Ballast Water Record Books

According to the BWM Convention (Reg. B-2), it is mandatory for all ships to have a Ballast Water Record Book (BWRB) on board, if vessels are designed to carry Ballast Water operating between two ports of different countries. For guidance on how to fill out BWRB entries, refer to BWM.2/Circ.80/Rev.1 – Guidance on ballast water record-keeping and reporting. The BWM Convention has been amended by IMO resolution MEPC.369(80), which changes the format of BWRBs and has come into force on 1 February 2025.
