Kiwa Pilot 2: issuance of digital certificates

In 2024, the pilot was initiated to issue digital CoC’s and CoP’s to a limited group of Dutch seafarers. The second phase of the Kiwa pilot started in April.

The advantages of issuing digital documents include:

• a reduced risk of forgeries,
• decreased production of physical documents,
• enhanced enforcement options, and
• an improved user experience

During the first pilot, participants provided feedback and suggestions for improvements, making the digital certificates more practical and user-friendly. Rood Boven Groen is participating in the second phase of the pilot. During this phase, in addition to the CoC’s, STCW training certificates will also be digitally issued in the ‘Kiwa eWallet’ app. All information about the pilot can be found on the Kiwa Register website www.kiwaregister.com.
