MEPC adopts BDN flashpoint reporting requirement

The IMO’s Marine Environment Protection Committee has amended appendix V of MARPOL Annex VI to require bunker suppliers to include flashpoint information in the Bunker Delivery Note (BDN). This amendment has been in effect since May 1, 2024. However, recent Port State Control reports have revealed non-compliance with this requirement. The current flashpoint limit in SOLAS Regulation II-2/4.2.3 is 60 degrees Celsius (°C).
