Updated Maintenance and Safety Requirements for Lifesaving Equipment

The Dutch Shipping Inspectorate has updated a number of regulations for maintenance, thorough inspection, operational testing, overhaul and repair of lifeboats and rescue boats, launching equipment and release mechanisms.
In NeRF, the following updates have been published:

• The 5-yearly load test of the hydraulic release devices.
• Requirements for non-fixed launching appliances of lifeboats and (fast) rescue boats.
• Maintenance and testing of all lifting straps, hooks, shackles, and other equipment that are part of the launching appliances.
• Encased launching equipment that cannot be visually inspected.
