In line with the objectives of the ISM, cyber risks will also have to be addressed and implemented appropriately in the SMS.<br \/>\nAll ships are required to have cyber risks adequately incorporated in the SMS by January 2021; it goes without saying that the ships with an ISM affiliated with Rood Boven Groen will certainly meet this requirement!<br \/>\nTo help you get started, Rood Boven Groen has developed a series of useful tools for every step in this process:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Step 1: What is your knowledge and awareness of cyber security? Our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roodbovengroen.com\/en\/training\/cyber-security-assessment-tool\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">self-assessment tool<\/a> is available on our website and is free for those who are interested. This is a self-test that allows you to determine the status of your knowledge of cyber risks.<\/li>\n<li>Step 2: What is the status on board? To answer this question, you can use the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roodbovengroen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/SHIP-CYBER-SECURITY-ASSESSMENT.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ship cyber security risk assessment<\/a>.\u00a0Using the calculation: risk = severity x likelihood, you can easily determine cyber security risks that require prevention measures.<\/li>\n<li>Step 3: Implementing your cyber risk management in the ship\u2019s SMS. The company management can use our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roodbovengroen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Cyber-risk-management-Implementation-guide.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">implementation guide<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>More background information can be found in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roodbovengroen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Richtlijnen-voor-cyber-security-onboard-ships.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the Guidelines on Cyber Security Onboard<\/a> (published by BIMCO).<\/p>\n<p>ISPS vessels also need to add appropriate guidance to the Ship Security Plan (SSP). Please be aware that cyber security is changing rapidly and that changes in SSP also need to be approved by the classification society.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"color: #c3191a;\">Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC) 2020 postponed<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>The COVID-19 crisis has had a considerable effect on the maritime industry. There have been fewer opportunities to perform essential surveys and inspections, certificate extensions have been postponed and it has been difficult for crewmembers to board ships or take leave, to name but a few.<br \/>\nEvery year the Paris and the Tokyo MoUs jointly conduct a CIC on a specific aspect on the safety of shipping. In 2020 the CIC would have focused on Stability (in general). A CIC is usually held from 1 September to 30 November.<br \/>\nHowever, in response to the COVID-19 situation the members States of the Paris MoU, in cooperation with the Tokyo MoU, have decided to postpone the CIC for 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, the schedule for CICs for the coming years will be:<br \/>\n2020\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0NO CIC<br \/>\n2021\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 CIC on Stability (in general)<br \/>\n2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 CIC on STCW<br \/>\n2023\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 CIC on Fire Safety<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"color: #c3191a;\">Risk Inventory and Evaluation (RI&amp;E) corona-proof<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>Under the Dutch Working Conditions Act (Arbowet), employers are obliged to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for employees. In this respect, the employer has to identify and list all risks associated with work in the RI&amp;E.
